Alan’s Blog

Text Box: February 08
Welcome to my blog, occasional for now. A very hectic period, but very exciting. A big thanks to Sarah at Wizard Studios for the concept, design and implementation of the fantastic Fair Trade window at the Kingston Store.

Had my first ice skating lesson today, this could be the start of a beautiful friendship with me and the ice, as long as I can keep standing. The goal - to be competent enough to go dancing on ice, this time next year! Spread bets on how many bumps and bruises I will collect over the next 12 months! Now where did I put the arnica cream?
More on my skating adventures, Friday I practiced skating backwards. Filled with enthusiasm and over confidence I went to Queensway Ice Rink on Saturday and went head over heels. Nothing broken but bruised and battered with a wrist bandaged up. Now on Arnica Cream, and Arnica 200.
Tuesday, back on the ice with my ‘famous’ partner (I wonder who that could be?). We are making great progress and this time next year we are going to be dancing on ice! Pain in the arm getting worse, now on comfrey ointment, Viridian of course!
Passionate about this planet we live on? Then I need you to go to http://www.earthhour.org/ ,
sign up and help make a difference.

The Ice Man cometh! Forget the arnica give me strong prescription medicine and pain killers, Yip! The wrist is broken, plastered up for 4 weeks now! And would you believe it, Relton, a mate of mine has gone and broken his right wrist too. He told me broke it playing hockey (but I know differently) :-) I will get him some Viridian comfrey ointment and Viridian Bone Density to help with the mend!
My friend Shazzie has just published the fantastic book, Raw Magic. Written by Kate Magic Wood and photography by Shazzie. WOW! http://shazzie.com/raw/news/
Our First talks are almost upon us, first up Stephen Terrass on May 1st - tickets are selling fast, fast, fast! Get yours NOW!

May 08
Our lectures have gotten off to a sensational start. Stephen Terrass opened the first series of Food For Thought Events on the 1st of May. He was greeted with a crowd of over 50 people. We have a short video which can be found at www.bonpom.com
Our second guest speaker certainly caused a stir. Marilyn Glenville delivered a lecture that certainly gave us all ’Food For Thought’. Entitled ’Fat Round The Middle - and how to get rid of it’. Marilyn talked to a packed audience, with not a single seat to be had in the room. She continued over in the store after the talk. We have already had several requests to invite Marilyn back again.
Our new website is well under way and we can report that it will be up and running VERY soon, we will keep you posted.
It has to be said, we have a wonderful team of people working at the Kingston Store, they have pulled together with an amazing attitude to help make the first two talks so successful. Ant on top of that they have all coped with Sunday and bank holiday opening for the first time - So thank you one and all.
Log on to www.bonpom.com and feel free to join. Help us make a fantastic social network site.
Shazzie you are a star. We have had more comments and feedback from your talk than from any of the others. You certainly struck a chord with our customers. We want you back soooon!
A HUGE thank you to Alex Kirchin from Viridian for the excellent talk on brain Health on Thursday 22nd May at the Kingston store.

The 3rd National Health Store conference was a fantastic success. Danny Wells is inspirational.
My big complaint is, why a lecture on effective marketing was delivered by Alpro? We are actively looking at the entire Provamel range available to us and will make a decision on whether or not we keep any or all of the products. We have re-merchandised the range to emphasise that we are no longer fully supporting this brand. After 15 or so years of having used Provamel / Alpro / Provamel Red at home I have now switched exclusively to GranoVita Organic no added sugar. Sadly I can no longer eat the yogurts as they now contain wheat (used to be tapioca). The flavoured milks (chocolate, strawberry etc) no longer have added vitamins. This is the biggest complaint we have from mums who would buy these drinks for the kids lunch boxes.
